Investing

Investing involves simple procedures such as mutual funds and 401(k)s or more advanced strategies for parlaying investments into fast wealth.

Market Timing and Trends

There is no better financial prospect than the opportunity to predict the next market downturn or upswing. The person who can do this is indispensable and offers investors the opportunity of possibly a lifetime. Market timing and market trends are the stuff of savvy economists and financial gurus whose sole job it is to analyze scores of market and technical reports and indicators searching for that elusive hint of the next big market swing.

Bubbles

Market bubbles such as the 1990’s Dot Com craze made millionaires overnight. Some made money and kept money, while others lost millions miserably on overvalued companies. Market bubbles are more often than not thought to be the result of overzealous investors who simply inspire a group dynamic that leads to buying and selling frenzy. When the bubble bursts, what happens to investments left hanging?

Arbitrage and Buying Low, Selling High

Although arbitrage and buying low, selling high are completely different investment strategies, they bear some similarities. Arbitrage is a kind of buy low, sell high concept, except that arbitrageurs play markets against each other. Investors who seek to simply buy low, sell high are looking for the lowest price on a stock they hope will rebound. The difference between these two strategies is risk. Arbitrage is often low risk, especially when applied to mergers and acquisitions. But a low valued stock does not necessarily have to rebound, ever.

Value Investing

Warren Buffet likely comes to mind when the subject of value investing arises. He is perhaps the best known and most successful guru of value investing ever. Value investing takes a different breed of investor, one willing to do their homework and take educated risks, often going against the current tide of market trends.

Real Estate

Nearly everyone knows the value of a good real estate investment. The planet is not getting any bigger. There is no more property, really. The stuff that is out there is in high demand from more buyers than there are properties. The current state of real estate is itself a study in market bubbles.
