Real Estate Versus Stocks
The planet is not getting any bigger, but the housing market is and it is not exclusive to the United States, either. The Real Estate Bubble There has been a growing profitable market in real estate for the last few years now and many financial advisors are worried. Their worry is that we are essentially encapsulated in a cozy little real estate bubble that has expert and novice investors plucking up nubile properties left and right. Many stand to make a tidy profit, many already have and others will lose when the bubble bursts, as bubbles always do. The question is, when? There are increasing demands for well-situated homes in the best areas and so far the demand is still outweighing the properties available, so the bubble is still inflating. However, the interest rates are starting to go up and housing experts emphasize the riskier mortgage practices that are putting people into properties, such as adjustable rate mortgages and interest-only loans. The Truth About Real Estate The truth is that regardless of the real estate market bubble, typically real estate is a great way to invest money. There is only going to be an increasing shortage of viable and attractive properties. Investors who purchase wisely and know whether they will seek immediate turn over or hold assets for rental property will typically reap benefits whether in the short term or long term. Versus the Stock Market? The stock market is typically a solid place to invest if the investor is looking to stay in for the long term. Over the long term the history of stock cycles shows that there will be regular downturns, just as there are upturns. As far as stock market versus real estate, though, it depends on what type of investing one is pursuing. Currently a riskier investor could turn many real estate properties around for a significant return on her dime and still outweigh the risks involved with short term stock strategies like buying and selling on trends. Or she could expand her investment portfolio with the real estate while still waiting out the long term advantage of stock market investment. contact@investingdiscussion.com |
